The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Trainer supports RiverValley Behavioral Health’s mission by ensuring that all staff members are equipped to document and utilize the agency’s EHR accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with clinical, billing, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities
Training Development & Delivery
- Design, update, and deliver EHR training programs for new hires, system upgrades, workflow modifications, and ongoing staff development.
- Create training materials tailored to behavioral health roles.
- Conduct classroom, virtual, and hands-on training sessions.
- Provide individualized coaching for staff needing additional support.
System Support & Workflow Optimization
- Serve as a subject matter expert on RVBH’s EHR, advising on documentation integrity and workflow efficiency.
- Participate in testing upgrades and enhancements.
- Identify gaps in documentation practices and support compliance.
- Collaborate with IT and EHR vendor support.
Documentation Quality, Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure training aligns with RVBH policies, Kentucky behavioral health regulations, HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare, and CARF requirements.
- Incorporate audit findings into training updates.
- Maintain accurate training records and prepare reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Program Directors and leadership to ensure training supports workflow expectations.
- Support onboarding processes for new employees.
- Participate in committees related to documentation quality and optimization.
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, Behavioral Health or Social Services, Information Technology or Informatics, Education or Training and Development.
- Experience working within an EHR in a behavioral health or healthcare environment.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Ability to train adult learners with varying levels of technical proficiency.
Preferred:
- Experience training EHR users in behavioral health.
- Familiarity with RVBH workflows and documentation.
- Knowledge of Medicaid behavioral health billing and compliance.
- Training in instructional design or adult learning theory.

Working Conditions
