Lube Technician

Reports To: Service Manager / Shop Foreman
Position Summary
The Lube Technician is responsible for performing routine vehicle maintenance services in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. This position assists in maintaining customer vehicles by performing oil changes, tire rotations, multi-point inspections, fluid checks, and other basic maintenance services while ensuring compliance with dealership and manufacturer standards.
The Lube Technician plays a critical role in delivering excellent customer service by helping ensure vehicles are serviced correctly and returned to customers in a timely manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform oil and filter changes according to manufacturer specifications.
- Perform tire rotations and tire pressure checks.
- Conduct multi-point vehicle inspections and report findings to service advisors and management.
- Check and replenish vehicle fluids, including engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid, and transmission fluid as applicable.
- Replace air filters, cabin filters, windshield wipers, and other maintenance-related components.
- Inspect belts, hoses, batteries, lights, and other vehicle systems for wear or damage.
- Maintain accurate repair orders and document services performed.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with manufacturer, dealership, and safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including service bays and shop equipment.
- Properly operate dealership equipment, tools, lifts, and machinery.
- Follow all environmental and hazardous waste disposal procedures.
- Assist technicians and other service personnel as directed.
- Participate in dealership and manufacturer training programs.
- Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Provide professional and courteous interactions with customers and coworkers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and more with assistance.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions.
- Ability to safely operate vehicles with a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to work around moving vehicles, machinery, chemicals, and shop equipment.
- Ability to maintain alertness and awareness in an active automotive service environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous automotive maintenance experience preferred but not required.
- Basic automotive knowledge and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
