Riverside High School is seeking a dynamic, passionate, and committed Head Boys Basketball Coach to lead, grow, and transform our basketball program. We are looking for a tireless worker dedicated to developing student-athletes, building a culture of winning and accountability, and fostering deep-rooted relationships throughout our school and community.
Position OverviewThe Head Boys Basketball Coach will oversee all aspects of the high school boys' basketball program while working collaboratively to create alignment and continuity from elementary through high school levels. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, effective communicator, and positive role model committed to excellence both on and off the court.
Primary Responsibilities Program Leadership & Development- Comprehensive Vision: Develop and implement a basketball program aligned from elementary through high school, ensuring consistent philosophy, terminology, and style of play.
- Management: Organize, supervise, and administer all aspects of the program, including practices, conditioning, offseason development, and summer programming.
- Culture: Establish team standards that promote discipline, accountability, sportsmanship, and a "culture of winning".
- Multi-Sport Support: Promote district philosophy by supporting other athletic programs and encouraging multi-sport participation.
- Academics: Monitor academic progress and promote student-athlete success in the classroom to ensure eligibility.
- Character: Teach fundamentals, teamwork, and leadership while modeling ethical conduct and professionalism at all times.
- Safety: Maintain current AAA required certifications and strictly follow all sports medicine protocols and emergency action plans.
- AAA Regulation: Ensure strict compliance with all bylaws, eligibility rules, and participation limits established by the Arkansas Activities Association.
- Administrative Duties: Manage the athletic budget, coordinate fundraising, and submit all required documentation (schedules, travel, etc) in a timely manner.
- Facility Oversight: Assist with facility oversight/maintenance and ensure the proper care and inventory of equipment, uniforms, and athletic spaces.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid Arkansas Teaching License issued by the Arkansas Department of Education.
- Experience: Previous coaching experience is preferred (high school level or higher strongly desired).
- Work Ethic: A "tireless" work ethic with high energy and a team-oriented mindset.
- Communication: Willingness to build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community stakeholders.
- Program Leadership: Demonstrated ability to develop talent and build competitive programs while displaying strong organizational and communications skills.
