Nursing Assistant Job Description:
- Responsible to: Director of Nursing
- Purpose:
- To provide oversight and general supervision to clients in areas of need.
- To provide active treatment to clients.
- To provide training programs to clients in areas identified by the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Responsibilities:
- Implement training programs with clients in areas identified by the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Provide assistant to clients in areas of need. Communicate clients’ needs to Heath Services Supervisor.
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living skills.
- Encourage clients’ interpersonal skills.
- Monitor and supervise clients to ensure safety and well-being.
- Provide interventions for client maladaptive behaviors.
- Participate with clients in their daily routine. Follow shift schedules.
- Assist clients to medical, dental, and other scheduled appointments as assigned.
- Ability to provide physical support to residents if they are unsteady or falling.
- Ability to provide physical management procedures in conjunction with behavior programs as trained and assigned.
- Complete special projects as assigned.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate documentation of training programs.
- Maintain accurate attendance records.
- Qualifications:
- A minimum of 8 years of elementary school or proof of equivalent knowledge.
- Written communication skills necessary for record-keeping and program implementation; successful completion of facility certified aide training course within 120 days of employment.
- Some positions require a valid Illinois driver’s license and good driving record.
- Physical stamina and energy necessary to provide personal care to residents.
- Ability to run or walk a distance of approximately 25 yards to assist with resident emergencies or for building evacuations.
- Freedom from communicable diseases.
- Exposure to Environmental Conditions:
- Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Occasional exposure to industrial adhesives due to construction/remodeling.
- Frequent exposure to vapors from paint fumes (including oil based paints and stains.
- Occasional exposure to dust due to construction/remodeling.
