Riverside Foundation has a full-time position available for an Activity Coordinator. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work directly with adults who have intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The full-time schedule is Tuesday-Saturday from 2:30-10:30 and 12:00-8:00.
The successful applicant must have or be willing to acquire the 36 Hour Basic Orientation for Activity Directors. They must be able to pass a criminal background check. Good attendance, a valid Illinois driver's license, and a clean driving record are also required. Salary is based on experience and the certification for activity directors.
Duties include:
- Develop and coordinate the operation of daily activities for active client programming.
- Complete daily schedule for staff of choice groups, downtime, client supervision.
- Train staff for activity implementation.
- Communicate with Program Director/Program Coordinators regarding activity options, speakers, staff issues, client behaviors.
- Coordinate activities to ensure that age-appropriate activities are provided.
- Provide periodic re-assessment of activities to evaluate re-designing as necessary to best meet client needs.
- Conduct program team meetings regarding activities to communicate expectations.
- Research, assess, and purchase supplies/materials for activities.
- Assist with daily operations of day program to include client observations, hall/lunch/break monitoring, and activity assistance.
- Complete Shift Supervisor duties as assigned in absence of Director.
- Communicate behavior information regarding clients as necessary.
- Participate in admissions meetings, team meetings, and in-services.
- Implement physical management procedures in conjunction with behavior programs as trained and assigned.
- Provide direct supervision to program staff as assigned.
- Responsible to know and assist with emergency evacuations.
- Be familiar with building operations.
- Assist with bathroom (toilet, floor, walls, partition) clean-up resulting from toileting accidents utilizing infection control procedures.
- Monitor and assist with reinforcers, talk times, and bus boarding routines.
- Assist in daily delivery of token reinforcers and maintain daily token sheets.
Exposure to Environmental Conditions:
- Frequent exposure to vapors from paint fumes (including oil bases paints and stains).
- Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals.
- Occasional exposure to industrial adhesives due to construction/remodeling.
- Occasional exposure to dust due to construction/remodeling.
- May be acted upon aggressively from clients; i.e., hitting, kicking, slapping, biting and punching
Documentation:
- Develop daily schedule for staff, choice stations, lunch/group coverage.
- Complete behavior progress notes as necessary.
- Write annual performance evaluations for staff under his/her supervision.
