About REC:

Riverside Education Centers (REC) is a private, non-profit corporation 501(c)(3) that has been serving the community since 2006 providing Mesa County students with high-quality academic and extracurricular experiences during out-of-school time to foster individual growth and to create community within a safe, diverse, equitable, inclusive environment. 

REC operates 13 after-school sites at individual schools.  Each site is directed by an After-School Program Manager, with support from one lead staff person and 5-8 trained, compensated tutors. Most sites enroll approximately 50-70 students with an average daily attendance of 45 students. 


Job Summary

The After-School Program Manager is responsible for structuring and managing the academic programming and educational enrichment activities at an individual Riverside Education Centers after-school site. In order to meet all grant requirements; areas of accountability include tutoring, enrichment, case management, behavior management, parent engagement, and community/ school partnerships. After-School Program Managers create a nurturing and inclusive environment, ensuring that students, staff, and volunteers are productively working together towards academic achievement as well as social and emotional development. 


This is a full-time leadership position. Outside of daily after-school programming, the After-School Program Managers work independently and as a team collaborating with other Program Managers to create and craft best practices to enhance REC’s offerings, as well as coordinate with individual school staff to ensure that the needs of students are being effectively met. 


Physical demands associated with tutoring and enrichment activities may include: sitting, standing, walking, alternative sitting or standing at will, lifting or carrying up to 25lbs, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, and or climbing. 


Responsibilities


Program Implementation (15 hrs/wk)

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for students and staff.
  • Implement a structured academic/enrichment environment utilizing a guiding rubric to ensure high quality.
  • Execute and oversee a Positive Behavior Support system.
  • Provide individual support for students based on input from all stakeholders: students, parents, teachers, and staff.
  • Carry out an effective and safe student check-in/check-out process. 
  • Guide and direct staff and volunteers during programming.
  • Build relationships and maintain communication with school staff including teachers, custodians, principals, secretary, etc.
  • Attend school events and staff meetings as necessary.
  • Coordinate with the Program Activities Coordinator to supplement Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons for students.
  • Organize & maintain REC materials.


Academic Planning (10 hrs/wk)

  • Communicate regularly with classroom teachers for student-specific information and academic guidance.
  • Curate lesson plans that align with the D51 curriculum based on student needs & teacher guidance. (ES & MS).
  • Review students' grades and missing assignments, weekly. (MS & HS).
  • Create & maintain a daily & weekly system for access to lesson plans for staff.
  • Coordinate the purchase of academic supplies.


Family Engagement (4 hrs/wk)

  • Communicate regularly with parents through newsletters, phone calls, and text messages.
  • Track communication with parents.
  • Solicit input from parents/guardians on the individual, holistic needs of students.
  • Follow up with families regarding student needs and achievements. 
  • Plan and carry out family engagement events that meet grant requirements.
  • Ensure students and families are regularly informed about upcoming events, activities, etc.
  • Coordinate and provide referrals for additional family support/resources as needed.


Enrichment Planning (4 hrs/wk)

  • Collaborate with & support the Enrichment team, Program Activities Coordinator, & staff for on-site and off-site enrichment activities that align with desired  outcomes, with support from REC’s enrichment team.
  • Work occasional Saturdays and other non-school days for outdoor programming and field trips. 
  • Coordinate the purchase of enrichment supplies.


Staff/Admin Management (7 hrs/wk)

  • Ensure adequate staff/volunteer coverage and structure for an effective tutoring environment.
  • Provide additional site specific staff training.
  • Ensure all staff clock-in/clock-out daily.
  • Keep staff accountable to program expectations.
  • Coordinate with HR on interviewing & hiring for staffing needs.
  • Oversee site budget, and expense management with a twice yearly meeting with finance director and direct supervisor.
  • Review all staff time cards weekly and approve before submitting for payroll.
  • Facilitate regular individual after-school site staff meetings with an academic/enrichment agenda and notes. 
  • Attend Managers’ meetings regularly and be available during designated work hours.
  • Gather and submit weekly student data to Operations (registration, attendance, snack attendance etc.)
  • Complete all on-going training hours as required by deadlines.
  • Evaluate site staff on a regular basis and work to develop and implement improvement plans as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • Proficiency in or capacity to learn Google Suite 
  • Prefer an individual who has experience in education working with assisting youth to overcome barriers
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills 
  • Open to feedback and coachable
  • Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong ability to multitask  
  • Capable of being flexible when needed
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual skills beneficial, but not mandatory 


Position Details

  • Full-time (40 hours per week) 
  • Hourly compensation rate based on qualifications and experience

Hourly pay range: $21.50- $26.50 (Site Manager)

                             $23.50-$26.50 (Senior Site Manager)

  • Health insurance or $600 Monthly Health Stipend
  • Monthly $35 Cell Stipend
  • Aflac (optional)
  • 2 weeks accrued flexible PTO annually
  • Traditional programming follows D51 school calendar, additional summer programming in June.
  • Ability to work occasional Saturdays and other non-school days for outdoor programming and field trips. 
  • In-office work hours required: minimum 10/wk 
  • Program Onsite work hours required: minimum 15/wk 
  • Flexible offsite hours: up to 15/wk 
  • One week (6 days) closure in December
  • One week (6 days) closure in July
