What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Program Facilitator (After School) position at Aspen Youth Center?
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of daily program activities and events for children, ensuring they are age-appropriate, fun, and educational.
- Supervise children during all activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Engage children in creative, recreational, and educational activities, including arts and crafts, games, sports, and potentially homework assistance.
- Promote a positive and respectful atmosphere by encouraging good behavior, conflict resolution, and positive interactions among children.
- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff to provide updates on children’s progress and any behavioral concerns.
- Ensure children’s needs are met, including physical, emotional, and social support.
- Help set up and clean up spaces before and after activities.
- Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines to maintain a safe environment.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
Qualifications:
- Experience with or desire to work with children in an educational or recreational setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain a positive and supportive environment the uplifts Positive Youth Development.
- Ability to handle challenging situations with patience and professionalism.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Flexible schedule, with availability during after-school hours and summer months.
- Must be able to pass background checks and screening procedures.
- Bilingual skills preferred, but not required.
