Riverbend Veterinary Care is a growing urgent care looking for veterinary professionals like you! This position is for an experienced veterinary assistant or certified veterinary technician licensed in Oregon who truly understands that they are a voice for the patient, the client, the doctor team and our greater community.

Riverbend is an independent and woman-owned veterinary urgent care centrally located in inner NE Portland. We seek to fill the urgent and intermediate medical needs for dogs and cats, carefully coordinating care with primary care and specialty care providers where appropriate. You'd be a great fit if you are a:
- CVT or highly trained/experienced vet assistant with 2 years of experience (ER or urgent care experience preferred)

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring attention to detail, critical-thinking, the ability to prioritize as well as pivot when needed

Schedule:
- 10 or 12 hour shift
- 3 or 4 day work week (full time)
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
No two days are alike, but some responsibilities include:
- Handling animals humanely and with compassion at all times.
- Triaging efficiently: recognize signs of illness, pain or distress as well as identifying critically ill patients that require immediate veterinarian assessment and medical intervention.
- Familiarity with common diseases: symptoms, means of transmission, diagnostics, treatments and prevention.
- Performing venipuncture, placing peripheral IV catheters, collecting samples and running in-house diagnostics (cytology, Idexx in-house diagnostics, digital radiography, access to ultrasound)
- Primary responsibility for the care of hospitalized patients.
- Guiding patients through all aspects of anesthesia and sedation.
- Discharging patients efficiently and patiently: explaining medical terminology and recommendations to owners, demonstrating medication administration.
- Managing medical questions or concerns from clients via phone and email
- Participation in the establishment and refinement of clinic flow, procedures and protocols
- Supporting the growth of medical knowledge and technical skills of other staff members.
