The Opportunity: River Way Ranch Camp offers a selective summer opportunity for motivated students seeking structured, hands-on clinical exposure in a dynamic pediatric setting. As a Health Center Liaison, you will work directly under the mentorship of our on-site Medical Doctor (MD) and Registered Nurses (RN). You will be a vital link between the medical clinic, camp leadership, and our families, gaining invaluable experience in patient care coordination and professional medical communication.
Clinical Support & Hands-On Experience:
All patient care support is performed under the direct supervision of licensed medical professionals.
- Clinical Intake: Assist with vitals, patient intake procedures, and initial assessments as directed by the RN/MD.
- Patient Monitoring: Support the monitoring of campers requiring infirmary care, recovery observation, and medication follow-ups.
- Specialized Care Coordination: Assist with the daily management of campers with ongoing health needs, including diabetes support and allergy management.
- Medical Mentorship: Work side-by-side with healthcare professionals throughout the day, observing clinical decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
- Inventory Management: Assist with the organization, sterilization, and replenishment of Health Center medical supplies.
Documentation & Communication Leadership:
- Medical Record Keeping: Maintain detailed electronic medical records, treatment logs, and follow-up documentation with a high degree of accuracy and HIPAA-level confidentiality.
- Family Advocacy: Serve as the primary point of contact for parents and guardians, providing "top-notch" professional health updates and ensuring parents feel cared for and informed.
- Logistics Coordination: Manage the nutritional needs and meal delivery for campers in recovery, ensuring dietary restrictions are strictly followed.
- Camp Synergy: Communicate directly with Camp Directors regarding the status and logistics of ill or injured campers and staff.

Qualifications:
- Current student or recent graduate in Nursing (LVN/BSN), Pre-Med, or Health Sciences.
- A genuine passion for pediatrics and a desire to help children grow in a safe, healthy environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (the ability to speak "eloquently and quickly" to concerned parents).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
