RESIDENTIAL SUMMER CAMP
CONTRACTED , OVERNIGHT POSITION LOCATED IN SANGER, CA
A culinary arts teacher trains campers (ages 7-16) in basic knowledge of the culinary industry. Makes a different daily recipe. He or she maintains a learning environment where campers are encouraged to ask questions, show respect for the teacher and other kids and learn about the culinary arts. Instruction involves hands-on participation from the campers so that they develop a firmer understanding of the activity. A culinary arts teacher modifies instruction, as needed, to meet the needs of all campers.
Responsible for:
- Teaching 4 classes per day 5 days a week (can be the same recipe)
- Introducing recipe's to the camper's and teach correct food safety and handling
- Engage with campers and answer culinary related questions
- Creation of Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced recipes for the summer schedule
- Following an opening checklist
- Following a closing checklist
- Cleanliness in the Culinary Kitchen
- Teach Kid's to clean up the Culinary Kitchen whenever possible
- Supervise the assisting staff
- Assist with evaluations of assistants
- Responsible for ordering food and supplies when needed with the approval from Camp Director or supervisor
- Opening/Closing Camp culinary supply inventory
Qualifications:
- Skill or development in cooking instruction/culinary classes.
- A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in cooking instruction/teaching or cooking school with experience in teaching children in general
- A positive attitude and a willingness to provide exceptional service and to act as a leader in all culinary activities.
- First Aid, CPR/AED Certification. (camp will pay for this)
- Food Handlers Certificate
