River Valley Foods in Syracuse, NY is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our finance team. If you’re organized, detail-oriented, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced company in the food distribution industry, this role is for you. Our ideal candidate will be driven and eager to learn in order to develop a deep understanding of the company and its processes.
Schedule:
- On-Site, Monday - Friday
Wages:
- $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting & Financial Reporting
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations
- Assist in monthly financial statement preparation and bank reconciliations
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
Accounts Payable/Receivable
- Process vendor invoices and credits accurately and on time
- Maintain organized AP/AR records
- Provide back-up support for Accounts Payable
Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure adherence to internal accounting controls
- Assist in preparing schedules for audits and tax filings
Systems & Collaboration
- Use ERP systems and Excel to manage and analyze financial data
- Work with department managers to resolve discrepancies
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- 1–3 years of accounting experience (required)
- Experience with ERP systems and inventory/cost accounting (preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- High level of integrity and professionalism
