The IT Coordinator is responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of all technology systems and infrastructure across the school. This role ensures that students, teachers, and staff have reliable, secure, and effective technology tools to support teaching, learning, and school operations. The IT Coordinator serves as the school's primary technology strategist and hands-on technical lead.Key ResponsibilitiesInfrastructure & Systems Management- Oversee all network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi, servers, firewalls, and internet connectivity, ensuring high availability and security- Manage hardware lifecycle (Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, printers, AV systems) including procurement, deployment, maintenance, and retirement- Administer cloud-based platforms including Google Workspace for Education, student information systems (SIS), Zoom Phone, and other enterprise applications- Ensure reliable operation of all classroom technology, including projectors, and document camerasSecurity & Compliance- Develop and enforce IT security policies, including data privacy practices compliant with FERPA, COPPA, and applicable state regulations- Manage cybersecurity protections including endpoint security, content filtering, and staff phishing awareness- Maintain documentation for disaster recovery and business continuity planningAcademic Technology Support- Partner with instructional staff to evaluate, implement, and support edtech tools and learning platforms- Provide training and ongoing support for teachers integrating technology into instruction- Support the administration with state and district-mandated online assessments (e.g., MCAS or equivalent)Helpdesk & End-User Support- Serve as the primary or escalation point for technical support across the school- Manage any IT support staff, contractors, or volunteersTechnology Planning & Proposals- Research and develop detailed proposals for new technology initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and edtech investments, including cost-benefit analyses and implementation timelines- Translate school leadership's strategic goals into actionable technology proposals with clearly defined scope, milestones, and success metrics- Evaluate vendor solutions and prepare comparative analyses and recommendations for leadership review and approval- Identify and develop proposals for grant funding and E-Rate program opportunities, managing the full application process through award and compliance- Maintain a multi-year technology roadmap and present regular updates to the Executive Director and Board as needed- Collaborate with finance staff to ensure proposals include accurate budgetary projections and align with available resourcesQualificationsRequired- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)- 5 years of IT experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role- Experience managing networks, cloud environments, and endpoint devices in a multi-user setting- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data privacy regulations (FERPA, COPPA)- Demonstrated ability to research, write, and present technology proposals to non-technical stakeholders- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences- Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and remain calm under pressurePreferred- Experience in a K12 school or nonprofit environment- Familiarity with Google Workspace for Education administration- Experience with E-Rate program applications and compliance- Knowledge of student information systems (e.g., Redikers Administrators Plus, PowerSchool, Infinite Campus, Aspen)- Relevant certifications (Google Certified Administrator, etc.)
