Role Description The Circulating Nurse is a full-time, on-site role located in Elkhart, IN, responsible for supporting safe and efficient surgical care in the operating room. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing the OR for procedures, verifying patient identity and consent, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures, and coordinating the surgical team’s needs throughout each case. The Circulating Nurse manages supplies and equipment, maintains accurate and timely documentation, and upholds infection control and regulatory standards. This role collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, and other clinical staff to promote positive patient outcomes and a smooth perioperative experience. The position also involves patient and family education, pre- and post-operative communication, and active participation in quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience in Surgical Nursing and Operating Room practices.
- Competence in Perioperative care, including pre-, intra-, and post-operative patient management.
- Solid foundation in Nursing and Medicine to assess, monitor, and advocate for patient safety and comfort.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana.
- BLS and ACLS certification, or willingness to obtain within an established timeframe.
- Previous OR or ambulatory surgery center experience preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication and critical thinking skills.
