Responsibilities
- Manage dental insurance claims processing, including verifying coverage, submitting claims, and following up on reimbursements
- Accurately code procedures using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to ensure precise billing and documentation
- Maintain and update patient medical records within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with attention to detail
- Facilitate medical collections by following up on outstanding balances and communicating effectively with patients and insurance providers
- Oversee sterilization procedures for dental instruments, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and OSHA standards
- Assist in managing medical billing processes, including reviewing bills for accuracy and submitting necessary documentation
- Keep abreast of updates in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to support accurate documentation and billing practices
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical or dental office setting with knowledge of medical billing, coding, and insurance processes
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and medical terminology
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for managing patient records and billing information
- Strong understanding of medical records management, insurance claim submission, and collections procedures
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control standards within a healthcare environment
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Certification or training in medical coding or billing is preferred but not required
