JOB SUMMARY
The Restaurant Supervisor assists the Restaurant Manager with the supervision of one or more dining rooms. Responsible for assigning all side work and completion of all closing paperwork for the dining room. Is required to inform Dining Room Manager of food needs and member questions and concerns that they are unable to answer. Will assist in distribution of daily task assignments and conducting pre-meal briefings. Has frequent interaction with our members and is expected to be a positive advocate for the club. Is expected to lead the service staff and to provide a positive and professional example for others to follow.
QUALIFICATIONS & WORK REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, spread sheets and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or associates of the department
- Attention to detail and mental concentration are necessary for accurately performing tasks and tolerating frequent interruptions
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to react to change and anticipate challenges prior to their occurrences.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- TABC & Texas Food Handler Certification required
- Must present a neat and clean personal appearance
- Must have timely, reliable attendance
- Must have a professional, courteous & respectful attitude toward members, guests, vendors, co-workers and supervisors
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / FUNCTIONS / TASKS
- Assigns all opening and closing checklist duties and assists the staff in completion of such duties; assists with training and assures that proper services is given to members and guests; cooperates and coordinates work activities with co-workers to ensure a smoothly run department; follows all outline policies and procedures for the dining room
- Ensures that the dining rooms are set to the proper standards. Sets daily task assignments and ensures that they are properly completed by the service staff. Monitors meal service to ensure that all member needs are met. Knows the Standards of Service and assists in holding service staff accountable for meeting those standards under the guidance of management
- Conducts regular training of the service staff, through classroom instruction and role-playing sessions. Is the proper role model for all service staff and is proactive in upholding the standards of service set by the management team
- Interacts with members and staff on a regular basis to ascertain the needs of both.
- Monitors the performance of the service staff and communicates this information to the management team
- Attends and participates in training, in-service education activities and staff meetings
- Assist the front of the house staff in all areas of the dining room when the opportunity arises
- Is committed and focused on providing excellent customer service to all members, guests, and co-workers. Has and uses the customer service tools provided through department training and can be counted on to make suggestions when opportunities for service improvements arise
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned by management or as may be required to meet in emergency situations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Stand, walk short distances for extended periods of time
- Use hands to fingers, handle or feel, and talk and hear
- Must have the ability to distinguish smells and temperatures
- Must be able to bend at the knees, twist from side to side at the waist, and reach with hands and arms above, below, and at shoulder level
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs
- Must be able to push 50lbs on a cart with casters. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
