Streetlight Lighting Technician A - Fayetteville, NC

Job Purpose:

The Lighting Technician A is an experienced lighting construction and maintenance professional responsible for safely performing, coordinating, and supporting medium to large-scale lighting construction and maintenance activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• This role has no direct reports.

Essential Functions:

• Perform construction, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance activities on lighting systems and associated equipment.

• Independently perform assigned work on medium to large lighting construction and maintenance projects.

• Apply appropriate procedures and technical knowledge to safely complete work in accordance with established standards and specifications.

• Diagnose lighting system issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.

• Read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics, and other technical documentation required to perform assigned work.

• Plan and organize work activities in a logical and methodical manner to ensure safe, efficient, and effective execution.

• Determine appropriate circuit isolation and protection requirements without compromising critical equipment or system reliability.

• Complete work on a variety of lighting equipment and systems while maintaining required quality and safety standards.

• Safely operated bucket trucks, digger derrick trucks, and other authorized aerial devices in accordance with applicable qualifications, procedures, and safety requirements.

• Inspect and properly utilize vehicles, aerial devices, tools, and equipment required to perform lighting construction and maintenance activities.

• Safely access elevated work areas and perform work at various heights.

• Frequently climb or use authorized equipment to reach required work locations.

• Does all other related work as required to complete the job.

• Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather conditions.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Travel Requirements:

• Regular travel is required.

Required education and experience:

• Minimum 3 years of recent lighting construction and/or maintenance activities and or any related field experience.

• CDL License or CDL Permit and acceptable driving record

• Able to read and communicate effectively in English.

• Able to travel long distances at short notice, when required.

• Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.

• Able to lift more than 50 lbs.

• Able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.

• Willing to work overtime when requested.

• Ability to frequently climb and/or use authorized equipment to access elevated work areas.

• Ability to safely perform work within applicable Minimum Approach Distance requirements for voltages greater than 600 volts, consistent with required training, qualification, authorization, and procedures.
