Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Director of Development to lead our fundraising, relationship management, and stewardship efforts. The ideal candidate will have a background in nonprofit management, event planning, and grant proposal writing. This role is vital in advancing our organization’s mission through innovative development strategies, donor engagement, and effective communication. The Director of Development will work with other RCB staff in cultivating relationships with stakeholders, managing databases, and executing development campaigns to support our growth and financial sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Plan and execute fundraising events, including managing logistics, vendor relationships, and volunteer coordination.
- Manage donor databases using DonorPerfect software to track contributions and engagement activities.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders through personalized communication and stewardship.
- Oversee donor campaigns and implement new strategies to increase visibility and engagement.
- Write compelling grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, corporations, and other sources.
- Coordinate donor relations communications with marketing and artistic staff to enhance the organization’s reputation within the community.
- Manage budgets for development projects and events ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Conduct research on potential funding opportunities, industry trends, and best practices in nonprofit development.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on communications and social media messaging.
- Prepare reports on development activities and progress, ensuring impact and accountability.
- Lead volunteer management programs to support organizational initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in a nonprofit, preferably in a fundraising role with knowledge of budgeting and finance.
- Strong skills in event planning, proposal writing, and relationship management.
- Proficiency in MS Office required. Experience with CRM software and digital marketing tools including email marketing platforms, a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Masters degree preferred.
- Experience in music education or music performance, a plus.
