Job Description
A Step Ahead Child Development Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Childcare Center Director to oversee daily operations and support a nurturing, high-quality learning environment for children and families. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, and passionate about early childhood education.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the childcare center
- Ensure compliance with state licensing and DHS regulations
- Supervise, support, and schedule staff
- Maintain children’s records, staff files, and required documentation
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians
- Assist with enrollment, tours, and family engagement
- Ensure a safe, clean, and developmentally appropriate environment
- Support curriculum implementation and classroom management
- Handle incident reports, policies, and center procedures
Requirements
High SchoolDiploma or GED (required)
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred)
- Director Credential or willingness to obtain (preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a childcare or early learning setting
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of Pennsylvania childcare licensing regulations
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to pass background checks and required clearances
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
