INVENTORY SPECIALIST

Position Summary

The inventory specialist will be responsible for compiling parts needed for the manufacturing process. They will organize the warehouse, pull the components from inventory, transact the pull in Sage 100 ERP, and make sure they are distributed to the plant personnel. They will also aid in working to lower inventory levels alongside purchasing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Oversee the flow of inventory in and out of the warehouse
• Responsible for stocking and organizing parts storages and preparing kits for manufacturing
• Responsible for completing and organizing all levels and types of inventory transactions using an ERP based software
• Produce reports and recommendations to management about ways to lower inventory and reduce costs associated with inventory
• Work with purchasing agent to assure proper purchasing techniques, available parts and shortages
• Work with vendors to maintain proper VMI counts and processes
• Organize scheduling efforts to provide materials in a timely matter
• Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers
• Receive, inspect, and store incoming shipments accurately and efficiently
• Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and effectively
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards
• Identify and report any discrepancies, damages, or shortages in shipments
• Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular cycle counts
• Work efficiently and positively with teammates and shop floor employees
• Stop work when something is wrong or unsafe

• Experience in supply chain
• Must have forklift experience
• Extremely strong communication skills
• Ability to learn and multi-task
• Strong ability to cross train in different areas
• Adaptability and problem-solving skills required
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Reasonable computer skills required
• High School Degree
• Manufacturing experience and knowledge preferred
• Understanding of inventory processes and ERP systems preferred
• Further education/some college is a plus

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in environments that include machinery, chemicals, and electrical equipment, following established safety protocols. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, in some instances this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary. Elements of the work environment are non-climate controlled.
