About the Firm
Our client is a leading global buy-side firm running a sophisticated macro strategy with deep expertise across equities, fixed income, currencies, futures, options, and digital assets. The firm is known for its sophisticated technology stack, flat culture, and intellectually rigorous environment. This is a buy-side seat
The Role
We are seeking a high-caliber Operations professional to join the firm's New York team in a generalist, cross-product capacity supporting a global macro trading mandate. The desk trades broadly across asset classes — the more products you've touched, the better — and this seat is designed for someone who wants exposure to all of it. This is a rare opportunity for candidates currently on the sell side, at a fund administrator, or in a more siloed buy-side role to step into a true front-office-adjacent operations seat at a top-tier hedge fund. The role sits at the intersection of trading, technology, and global operations — working directly alongside traders and partnering with engineering teams to drive efficiency, automation, and process improvement.
The firm cares less about a perfect résumé than it does about the right intangibles: a serious work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a builder's mindset that approaches operational problems with automation in mind from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Own end-to-end trade lifecycle support across a broad set of products including equities, futures, options, fixed income, FX, and digital assets. Partner directly with traders on the desk to manage daily flow, resolve breaks, and prioritize across competing demands in a high-pressure environment. Identify automation and process improvement opportunities; build quick scripts and models to solve operational problems rather than absorbing them as manual work. Work cross-functionally with technology, risk, finance, and compliance teams to drive continuous improvement. Contribute to the build-out and scaling of the New York operations function, with meaningful growth opportunities across asset classes and global geographies.
Required Qualifications
3-7 years of Operations, Middle Office, Trade Support, or Fund Accounting experience — backgrounds welcomed from sell-side prime brokerage / clearing, fund administration, or buy-side operations. Cross-product exposure is a major plus; the more asset classes you've touched, the stronger your candidacy. Strong understanding of trade lifecycle, settlement, and clearing processes. Comfort with Python or similar scripting languages — you don't need to be a developer, but you should be able to build quick models, automate repetitive work, and use available tools to move faster. Genuine interest in AI-assisted development and automation tooling. A serious work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a demonstrated drive to learn and grow. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment — handles pressure, prioritizes well, self-starter. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct exposure to a buy-side trading floor or hedge fund environment. Multi-asset or global macro coverage experience. Digital asset, derivatives, FX, or fixed income exposure. Track record of building automation or technology-driven process improvements. Candidates currently in narrower seats (e.g., fund admin, sell-side ops) who are ready to take on broader, generalist responsibility are strongly encouraged to apply.
What the Firm Offers
Direct exposure to a world-class macro trading floor and sophisticated technology stack. A culture that values quality, focus, and intellectual rigor over hours worked. Competitive compensation: $160,000–$210,000 all-in (base performance bonus), plus benefits. 4 days in office (New York). Long-term career growth across asset classes and global geographies.
