Rite-Solutions, Inc. is seeking a full-time Junior to Mid-Level Systems Engineer to support the Virginia Class Submarine Program (PMS 450) at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. This position provides a unique opportunity to grow into the submarine Ship Control System (SCS) domain, supporting a high visibility Navy program while developing expertise in flybywire control architectures.Job DescriptionThe selected candidate will support the Ship Control Division (PMS 450S) within the Virginia Class Program Office. This division oversees the development, certification, sustainment, and modernization of the FlyByWire Ship Control System for all Virginia Class submarines. In this role, you will work alongside senior government, military, and engineering personnel to learn and support system architecture, system safety, and programmatic oversight activities associated with submarine ship control.This position is ideal for an engineer who has a strong foundation in systems engineering or electrical/aerospace engineering and is looking to build specialized expertise in flybywire systems and Navy submarine programs.Duties and Responsibilities Support system architecture, requirements interpretation, and engineering analysis for submarine FlyByWireShip Control System (SCS) capabilitiesAssist senior engineers with tracking system updates, certification activities, and technical reviews for hardware/software buildsDevelop, review, and maintain program documentation such as technical memos, status reports, engineering analyses, and configuration artifactsParticipate in program meetings, design discussions, and technical working groups with NAVSEA, shipbuilders, and other stakeholdersLearn and apply principles of system safety, algorithm assessment, configuration management, and test/certification proceduresConduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to support issue resolution and root cause investigationsCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather data, track action items, and support program decision-makingContribute to long range planning for NEWCON and InService Ship Control modernization effortsRequired Qualifications and Skills Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical discipline1-5 years of relevant engineering experience (internships and coops considered for strong candidates)Foundational understanding of system architecture, system design principles, or control system fundamentalsAbility and desire to learn flybywire concepts, system certification processes, and Navy ship control system engineeringStrong analytical, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to work effectively with cross functional technical teams and government stakeholdersU.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearanceDesired Qualifications Experience with requirements analysis, systems engineering processes, or model based systems engineeringExposure to control systems, embedded systems, avionics, robotics, or safety critical systems Familiarity with system safety documentation, configuration management, or test and evaluation processesPrior experience with Navy or DoD programs (even academic or internship level experience)Who are we?Rite-Solutions, Inc. is a CMMI Level III and CMMC 2.0 Level 2 certified organization.
