About the Role
A growing packaging and manufacturing organization is seeking a Sr. Buyer with experience in corrugated packaging, custom packaging, or related materials. This role ensures products are purchased accurately, cost effectively, and on time to support customer needs and overall operational success. The Sr. Buyer manages purchase orders, negotiates with suppliers, monitors inventory levels, and partners closely with operations, sales, design, and customer service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and confirm daily purchase orders, review requests for accuracy, and maintain up to date supplier pricing and records.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and freight to optimize cost and service.
- Manage inventory levels, open POs, back orders, and min/max thresholds while proactively addressing stockout or excess risks.
- Analyze demand trends and adjust purchasing strategies, including managing slow moving or obsolete items.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, resolve vendor issues, and escalate when needed.
- Partner cross functionally with sales, customer service, design, manufacturing, and procurement to support operational needs.
- Support new item setup, documentation, quality requirements, and material expediting while contributing to process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years of purchasing or procurement experience.
- Experience in packaging, corrugated, printing, or similar manufacturing environments
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Solid understanding of inventory management principles.
- Experience working with sales, operations, or production teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities.
- Proficiency with basic arithmetic for pricing and margin work.
Salary : $80,000 - $95,000
