Job Title: Merchandiser
Location: Oklahoma City, OK | Fully onsite/in-office
Compensation: $50K–$90K based on relevant experience
Mission of the Role (What you will be doing)
The Merchandiser identifies and sources products to satisfy unique, non-stock customer requirements and is an important communication link between the supplier, customer service, sales, and operations. The Merchandiser works with sales, customer service, operations and the SupplyOne supply chain team to understand customer needs so as to identify and source the best products to achieve customer objectives. The Merchandiser maintains and updates the supplier database and identifies alternative suppliers if existing ones are unable to meet their obligations, and may also serve as a point of contact for customer service on select accounts, supporting order management, service, margin maintenance and growth, and problem-solving for internal and external customers.
Key Duties & Accountabilities (Primary responsibilities & quantifiable measurements)
Merchandising
- Submit standard quote requests to vendors, and process and confirm orders, within 24 hours of receipt
- Generate quote comparisons by obtaining quotes from different suppliers, and contribute to internal supplier selection based on quotes
- Negotiate price, quantity and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Source new items per request, assessing quotes and compiling a detailed assessment of costs
- Research new suppliers and help find new opportunities to allow for better buying and sales
- Obtain correct, detailed quotes for customer service and sales
- Facilitate all new suppliers completing the ISO Supplier Evaluation form to be on the Approved Vendor List
- Maintain Supplier Database with accurate, up-to-date supplier information
Essential Functions (Essential/secondary functions that support the primary responsibilities)
- Prepare quotes and miscellaneous correspondence
- Build and maintain long-lasting supplier relationships
- Maintain thorough customer, email and other records
- Must frequently use independent discretion, judgment and decision making skills to achieve quality and performance standards
Customer Service
- Process and confirm orders, and generate standard quotes, within 24-48 hours of receipt
- Build, maintain and keep price lists current to protect and maintain GP margins
- Assess GP$/UOM on orders to protect margin, alerting manager to potential issues
- Monitor customer min/max, open orders, back orders and inventory levels, alerting customers immediately to changes to deliver on time, in full and in spec (DIFOTIS)
General
- Answer all emails by the end of each day
- Resolve customer problems and elevate issues immediately to an acceptable, timely and appropriate resolution
- Serve as liaison with customer service, sales, purchasing, design, manufacturing and shipping
Serve as backup to normal Buyer functions; placing purchase orders, expediting etc.

Educational/Training Requirements/Experience (What your background should look like)
- High School diploma/GED
- Experience in sourcing processes
- Understanding of sourcing methodologies
- Critical thinking and negotiation skills
- Knowledge and sales and marketing principles is advantageous
- Strong customer service/interpersonal skills
