Cloud Engineer
Location: Fully Remote (Within firm-approved U.S. states including NY, NJ, TX, CA, MA, CO, IL, and DC)
Reports to: Senior Manager, Enterprise Systems Infrastructure
Compensation: $125,000 (Base Salary) Bonus
This role is pivotal in modernizing our infrastructure across on-premises systems, global colocation data centers, and the Microsoft Azure platform. You will ensure our compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud services are built for peak performance, scalability, and uncompromising security.
- Architecture & Implementation: Design and deploy robust hybrid cloud infrastructure, integrating compute and storage solutions across global data center environments.
- Modernization & Optimization: Continuously evaluate legacy systems to recommend and execute upgrades that enhance scalability and performance.
- Strategic Integration: Lead the seamless integration of Azure cloud services into existing and future infrastructure architectures.
- Operational Excellence: Develop high-availability policies and disaster recovery procedures to ensure 24/7 business continuity across all global offices.
- Security & Compliance: Partner with InfoSec teams to ensure all solutions align with firm standards and strictly adhere to ISO 27001 and audit requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Networking, Security, and Application teams to define and execute a unified global technology roadmap.
- Documentation & Governance: Maintain rigorous system documentation, including architectural diagrams, configuration standards, and change management logs.
- Innovation: Stay at the forefront of emerging tech and manage vendor relationships to ensure the firm’s infrastructure remains cutting-edge.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Experience: 5 years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience (Compute, Storage, Data Centers).
- Scope: Proven track record supporting large-scale, multi-office global environments across multiple time zones.
- Environment: Strong background in legal or professional services is highly preferred.
- Mindset: A demonstrated mastery of hybrid cloud systems, networking, and security engineering.
- Azure Hybrid: Deep hands-on experience with Azure VMware Solution (AVS), Azure Arc, Landing Zones, and Azure Policy.
- Automation: Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep or Terraform; automation experience with Ansible and PowerShell.
- Monitoring: Advanced use of Azure Monitor and telemetry tools for operational intelligence.
- VMware Stack: Expert-level knowledge of vSphere, ESXi, NSX, vCenter, and SRM.
- Linux Engineering: Strong administration skills in enterprise Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE), including security hardening and performance tuning.
- Storage & Data: Experience with enterprise platforms such as Pure Storage, Nasuni, and Veeam.
- Identity: Proficiency in IAM, Azure AD/Entra ID, RBAC, and secure hybrid connectivity.
- Working knowledge of HPE and Brocade hardware, alongside core enterprise networking concepts.
- Complex Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues across disparate infrastructure layers.
- Analytical Thinking: A proactive mindset focused on process improvement and efficiency.
- Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between deep technical concepts and non-technical business stakeholders.
