About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Supplier Quality Engineer with a strong background in electrical controls, electronics, PCBAs, wire harnesses, control cabinets, sensors, transducers, switches, and instrumentation products.
This role will be responsible for managing supplier quality performance, supporting supplier qualifications, conducting audits and inspections, driving corrective actions, and ensuring supplier products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
The ideal candidate will have deep hands-on experience in Supplier Quality, electrical/electronics manufacturing, PCBA quality, wiring schematics, process audits, root cause analysis, and supplier development.
Key Responsibilities
Manage supplier qualifications to ensure suppliers can consistently meet engineering drawing and specification requirements.
Own product and manufacturing process qualifications at assigned suppliers and ensure timely closure based on business needs.
Execute new supplier evaluations and onboarding, including quality and compliance audits.
Conduct supplier surveillance audits to verify process control, product acceptance standards, and quality system effectiveness.
Support product release and serial production needs while ensuring compliance with project and customer requirements.
Organize and perform inspections at supplier sites to verify product quality compliance.
Support customer witness inspections, including Factory Acceptance Tests and customer observation inspections.
Witness testing at independent third-party laboratories when required.
Manage supplier quality metrics, supplier audits, and supplier governance activities.
Collect and analyze supplier process data for Critical to Quality characteristics and support process capability improvements.
Manage supplier non-conformances, warranty claim dispositions, supplier recoveries, and supplier deviation requests.
Perform robust Root Cause Analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
Act as the technical interface between suppliers, sourcing, design engineering, materials engineering, and process engineering teams.
Provide technical guidance to suppliers to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality procedures.
Partner with commercial, engineering, manufacturing, and sourcing teams to remove barriers affecting supplier quality and delivery.
Support supplier development activities, including improving existing suppliers and qualifying new suppliers.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, preferably Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related discipline.
8–10 years of hands-on industry experience in controls, electrical, electronics, engineering/design, quality, or manufacturing within electrical or instrumentation product manufacturing.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Supply Chain or Supplier Quality.
Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation products such as:
Mark VIe or similar control systems
PCBAs
Wire harnesses
Cables
Control cabinets
Sensors
Transducers
Switches
Control transformers
Strong background in PCBA quality inspection and quality control.
Ability to trace and interpret wiring schematics and logic circuits.
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, international technical standards, and manufacturing process plans.
Technical knowledge to lead design and manufacturing reviews with suppliers.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, verbal, and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced technical degree in Electrical, Electronics, Controls, or Instrumentation Engineering.
Experience in instrumentation products or instrumentation systems.
Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
Experience improving supplier statistical capability and evaluating supplier readiness and capacity.
Knowledge of industry standards such as IEC, IEEE, ISO, ANSI, and NEMA.
Knowledge of nuclear industry standards such as N299.2 and N299.3.
ISO Lead Auditor certification or equivalent internal certification/training.
Certified RCA Leader or experience with formal problem-solving methods such as 8D, Kepner Tregoe, Apollo, or similar.
Experience in power generation equipment manufacturing.
Field experience with gas turbine power plants, especially in quality, maintenance, or operation of electrical equipment.
Strong ownership mindset, proactive approach, process orientation, and influencing skills.
