Special Education Program Specialist
Rising Sun Montessori School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Program Specialist to join our administrative team for the upcoming academic year. Located in the picturesque El Dorado Hills, California, RSMS is a thriving charter school within the Buckeye Union School District. Our school community is nestled in the serene suburbs of Sacramento, conveniently situated within a two-hour drive of both San Francisco and the stunning Sierras and Lake Tahoe. With a focus on small class sizes and a supportive faculty, RSMS offers a unique environment for educators committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families in a public Montessori setting.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Coaching- Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement targeted instructional strategies
- Provide coaching and professional development on evidence-based practices
- Support data-driven instruction and intervention planning
- Serve as case manager for students with IEPs
- Coordinate and facilitate IEP meetings
- Develop and maintain compliant IEP documentation using SEIS
- Monitor implementation of services, accommodations, and goals
- Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student progress
- Support staff in selecting and using assessment tools
- Coordinate and monitor related service providers (speech, OT, counseling, etc.)
- Track service minutes and ensure compliance
- Ensure timely progress reporting
- Supervise and support paraeducators
- Provide training, feedback, and scheduling coordination
- Provide individual and small-group instruction as needed
- Support inclusive practices across settings
- Communicate regularly with families and staff
- Participate in IEP, MTSS, and instructional planning meetings
Qualifications
- Valid Education Specialist (Special Education) Credential
- Knowledge of special education law and compliance (IDEA)
- Experience with IEP development and SEIS
- Strong data analysis and progress monitoring skills
- Experience coaching staff and supervising paraeducators
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a Montessori or alternative education setting
- Experience working with elementary and/or secondary students
