Role Description The VPK Lead Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Port Orange, FL. This role is responsible for planning and delivering daily VPK lessons aligned with Florida early learning standards, including literacy, math, social-emotional, and motor skills activities. The VPK Lead Teacher manages the classroom environment, maintains routines, supervises children at all times, and ensures a safe, clean, and engaging learning space. Daily responsibilities include assessing children’s progress, documenting observations, preparing learning materials, and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs. The VPK Lead Teacher also communicates regularly with families, collaborates with assistant teachers and staff, participates in training and staff meetings, and follows all licensing, health, and safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Lesson Planning and Teaching, with the ability to design and implement developmentally appropriate VPK curriculum and activities.
- Strong foundation in Education and Training, including knowledge of early childhood development and best practices for preschool instruction.
- Effective Communication skills, including clear, respectful interaction with children, families, and colleagues, and the ability to provide constructive feedback and updates.
- Relevant VPK credentials or state-required early childhood certifications (e.g., Florida VPK certification, DCF training hours) or eligibility to obtain them within a specified timeframe.
- Experience in a preschool or early childhood classroom, with the ability to manage groups of young children and support positive behavior.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, complete required documentation, and follow all school and regulatory policies and procedures.
