Title: Data Governance Specialist
Location: NYC (On Site / Remote Hybrid)
Type: Contract
Rate: $85 per hour
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (Masters’ Preferred)
- Quickly understand the Regulatory and Legal landscape and needs and drive the implementation of the data governance roadmap around the regulatory book of work.
- Support in establishing an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on governing data as an enterprise asset, addressing regulatory requirement, and protection of sensitive data through organization behavior, policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, and related tools.
- Actively collaborate with business data stewards to implement various data projects and initiatives
- Support the mission and goals of the cross-functional Data Governance Council.
- Serve as a liaison between Business and Technology to ensure that data related business requirements for governing data are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
- Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners
- Institute and facilitate governance of the organization's business and technical metadata as well as data quality routines and frameworks.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree a plus.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Technology and/or Data Management in the Financial Services or Insurance industry with 3 years in establishing and executing data governance programs, or in a BA/PM role executing data related projects.
- Familiarity with data related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
- Experience with sensitive data and addressing laws around data privacy and security (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, FINRA, NY DFS) is a plus
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Demonstrated experience in cross collaborating with multiple teams for change management, communications planning, and execution.
- Ability to effectively challenge all levels of an organization and offer value-add solutions to meet data governance objectives. Strong experience in stakeholder engagement and people and relationships management is desired.
- Collaborative team player who is detailed oriented and focused on solution quality and execution.
- Ability to work independently with some level of ambiguity and juggle multiple demands.
