Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for oversight of RiseBoro's Neighborhood Senior Centers and Senior Clubs including support and supervision in order to meet the scope of contracted services while maintaining compliance with all regulatory, funding sources and organization requirements.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  • Responsible for the development of program activities and case assistance standards as well as implementation of new initiatives across all congregate services
  • Responsible for approving time and leave records for senior center directors and the Director of Senior Clubs.
  • In coordination with the VP of Seniors and the Director of Operations, assist in the development of budgets and review year to date expenditures with Program Directors to ensure budgets are fully expended
  • Develop and identify partnerships with other social service providers, health care providers and universities to provide additional programming and resources in expanding senior services
  • Plan and implement expanded Evidence Based Programs to Neighborhood Centers and Senior Clubs
  • Develop and coordinate virtual programming across all congregate services; coordinate with Case Management to develop opportunities for home bound seniors to participate in these programs and maintain the actual updates of the virtual calendar and coordinate posting with Marketing.
  • In coordination with VP of Seniors and the Director of Operations, plan, implement, and monitor service levels and strategic initiatives in compliance with contracted service levels and deliverables
  • Work with the Director of Volunteer Services to coordinate and expand volunteer services at the congregate sites
  • Participate in funding source, coalition and aging service provider committees and special events as assigned
  • Prepare and review reports for funding sources and management, as needed
  • Attend senior center advisory board meetings
  • Negotiate senior center client grievances as needed
  • Assist the VP in implementing transition plans for senior center program expansion and developing program procedures to meet new compliance requirements required by funding sources
  • Submit required materials to SOFA, DFTA, DOH, and any other funding source as assigned, annually.
  • Assist in the preparation of grants and request for funding for congregate services.
  • Represent the agency at community meetings
  • Attend trainings and other growth and development opportunities.
  • Other agency-wide and related duties as assigned

LEAD AND MENTOR STAFF

  • Directly supervise administration staff
  • Provide leadership and direction to the team to ensure the delivery of high performance, acting as an enthusiastic, positive and motivated coach
  • Take full responsibility for the performance management of the team to ensure that quality and deadlines are achieved and maintained and that any issues are managed in line with RiseBoro policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ensure the Division is appropriately staffed at all times
  • Along with the HR Department and management team, coordinate training programs for new staff and identify training needs for current staff
  • Contribute to program team-building efforts and support all Directors to identify problem solving options and ensure the integration of management staff into decision-making processes
  • Instill a culture of respect, integrity, compassion, equity and empowerment

ATTRACT RESOURCES TO THE ORGANIZATION

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners including managed care partners, other providers, and health care payers in an effort to bring resources to the organization
  • Actively engage in identifying new service lines within existing contracts or new contracts in the service areas
  • Lead staff to raise funds effectively for their programs

COMPETENCIES

  • Must have demonstrated experience in program management and staff supervision
  • Significant experience in management of a senior center program and or community-based program preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program design and evaluation is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to speak in public and make presentations as needed.
  • Time management skills with a proven ability to meet contractual deadlines.
  • Creative and self-starter.
  • Ability to develop programming and expand services for senior centers.
  • Ability to problem solve, think critically and use sound judgment.
  • Strong computer proficiency using standard office software programs required, in particular Microsoft Office; experience with web-based applications, working with funding source data base systems preferred.

  • Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ people, immigrants, justice involved persons, etc.)

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills may be considered qualifying:

  • Masters degree from an accredited college or university with a major in social work, business or public administration, or any other related field; or
  • Bachelor Degree in Human Services or Health Related Degree and at least 3 years, minimum supervisory/managerial experience in social service community-based programs
