Are you a Software or Application Support Engineer who uses SQL day to day, looking for a role where you own the systems on site, are trusted to make the call yourself, and have a clear route up to Senior?

On offer is a newly created position where you are the technical presence for business-critical applications at a US site, working into a management structure based in the UK. That means genuine day-to-day autonomy over how you work and how you fix things, with an established IT team behind you whenever you want a second opinion. There is a defined step up into a Senior position, and specialist routes available beyond that for anyone who wants to develop in a particular direction.

This company operates at the leading edge of advanced semiconductor technology, supplying materials into wireless, photonics, aerospace and defense programs worldwide. They run multiple sites internationally, hold long-standing relationships with some of the biggest names in the sector, and continue to win significant new customer programs. This role has been created directly off the back of one of them.

In the role you will diagnose and resolve incidents across manufacturing and business systems, writing SQL day to day to interrogate data and get to genuine root cause rather than applying workarounds. You will manage bugs and service requests through to resolution, work directly with external software suppliers, and analyze recurring problems to design out the issues that keep coming back. You will be the person users on site come to, so this is as much about looking after people as it is about the systems. You will also take a lead role supporting a major new customer project as it comes online.

This role would suit a Software Support Engineer or Application Support Analyst with strong SQL, looking for autonomy, a clear route up to Senior, and a long-term home with a global manufacturer.

The Role:

• Diagnosing and resolving incidents across MES, ERP and bespoke business-critical applications
• Using SQL daily for application support, investigation and root cause analysis
• Autonomy to run things your own way on site, with an established UK team behind you for support
• Clear progression to a Senior position, with specialist routes available beyond that
• Newly created site-based position supporting a major new customer program

The Candidate:

• Three years or more in a technical, application or software support role
• Strong hands-on SQL, used daily to investigate and resolve application issues
• Experience of MES, ERP (ideally Microsoft Dynamics NAV) or issue tracking such as JIRA is advantageous
• Stable career history and looking for a long-term move
