Duties
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking medical histories and explaining procedures clearly and confidently
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations using specialized ophthalmic equipment
- Assist the ophthalmologist during exams by adjusting equipment, maintaining sterile conditions, and recording findings accurately in the patients charts.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment while adhering to safety protocols and medical standards
- Stay updated on medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, physiology concepts, and medical coding practices relevant to ophthalmology to ensure precise documentation and billing
Experience
- Prior experience working in an ophthalmology is highly preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Strong understanding of medical terminology related to eye anatomy and physiology to accurately assist with diagnoses and procedures
- Experience with medical coding, and clinic operations will be considered advantageous
- Excellent communication skills combined with clinic experience to provide compassionate patient care and support team collaboration
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism
