About The Role
We are looking for a Manager, Indirect tax to lead and support U.S. indirect tax compliance operations for a global mining organization.

Reporting to the US Indirect Tax Manager and working in a challenging and exciting environment within the Indirect Tax function, you will
- Lead and manage a team of indirect tax professionals responsible for U.S. Sales & Use, Property, Severance, and Excise/Specialty tax compliance
- Oversee the preparation, review, and sign-off of all U.S. indirect tax returns and payments, ensuring accuracy and audit readiness
- Govern the indirect tax compliance calendar and drive timely execution across all return types
- Serve as the primary point of contact for operational tax issues, triaging escalations and driving resolution across Tax, AP, Banking, and IT
- Own the functional health and defensibility of indirect tax determination in Vertex O Series and SAP, including troubleshooting and system diagnostics
- Lead process improvement and automation initiatives, leveraging tools such as Alteryx (or similar ETL tools), Excel PowerQuery, Power BI, and PowerApps to modernize workflows and reporting
- Maintain a robust control framework, supporting audits and identifying control gaps tied to ERP and tax engine logic, as well as underlying data sourcing and validation processes
- Coach, train, and develop the indirect tax team, translating requirements into actionable guidance and promoting knowledge sharing across all tax types
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMI, or similar credential preferred, with experience in mining, extractive industries, or other capital-intensive sectors
- 8 years of U.S. indirect tax experience, including leadership or review responsibility in a multi-state, multi-entity environment
- Direct experience with Sales & Use Tax compliance; exposure to Property, Severance, and Excise taxes strongly preferred
- Hands-on troubleshooting expertise with Vertex O Series and working knowledge of SAP tax-relevant transactions and data flows
- Demonstrated ability to lead professionals, prioritize work, and drive issues to closure
- Experience developing Alteryx workflows, Excel Power Query, Power BI reporting, and PowerApps or other low-code automation solutions
