About The Role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Power‑Line Installer and Repairer to support the safe generation, transmission, and distribution of electrical power across the Kennecott Copper operation.
This is a great opportunity for a certified and safety‑focused professional to apply their expertise in high‑voltage electrical systems, working 4 days per week (10 hours per day) with some on‑call duties.
Reporting to the Supervisor – Energy Services and working in a collaborative and high‑performing team environment within Energy Services, you will be
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground high‑voltage power lines and related equipment
- Performing high‑voltage switching and energized work in accordance with Minimum Approach Distance (MAD) requirements
- Supervising and supporting line workers performing energized and de‑energized work
- Conducting inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on electrical infrastructure, including substations
- Responding to emergency outages and participating in on‑call rotations
- Following all Rio Tinto Kennecott safety standards and procedures, including lockout/tagout, arc flash, and MSHA requirements
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Valid Journeyperson Lineman Certificate with hands‑on experience in high‑voltage electrical systems
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial, utility, or mining electrical environments
- Proven ability to work safely with high‑voltage systems (up to 25kV or higher)
- Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards, and safe work practices
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah.
