Job Summary and Qualifications

The Exercise Physiologist is responsible for providing individualized, goal directed care and education to patients using the systematic process of assessment, implementation, and evaluation. The Exercise Physiologist will analyze the patients’ fitness to help them improve or maintain good health. They will help patients with heart disease and other chronic conditions, like pulmonary disease, regain their health. This position requires proficiency in cardiac and pulmonary care to ensure the delivery of high service standards while promoting excellent patient experience.

• Utilizes the systematic process of assessment, implementation and evaluation while caring for individual patient and families.
• Demonstrates appropriate judgment, priority setting skills, and decision making abilities.
• Consistently and effectively organizes and utilizes available resources.
• Communicates effectively with patients in a caring and empathetic manner regarding their diagnosis, plan of care and goals of treatment.
• Communicates effectively with referring physicians regarding the status of their patients receiving therapy.
• Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health care workers.
• Attends departmental and hospital meetings, rounding (such as barrier rounds), consultations or conferences as required to contribute to patient care
• Works within a team to improve the effectiveness of service delivery and positive outcome measures.
• Maintains up to date documentation in accordance to standards of practice

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support
• (AACVRP-CCRP) Certified Cardiac Rehab Professional must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date
• Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis on Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, and/or Kinesiology
• Experience in an acute care setting preferred
• Must be able to work weekdays
• Must be available to interview on a Tuesday or Friday
