Key Responsibilities
- Review medical records and clinical documentation to determine appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Ensure documentation supports the codes assigned and identify documentation requiring clarification.
- Review claims and coding information for accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with resolving coding-related billing and reimbursement issues.
- Maintain knowledge of current coding regulations, payer requirements, and Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.
- Monitor coding practices for compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
- Communicate with clinical and business office staff regarding documentation and coding questions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Participate in audits, quality improvement activities, and other duties related to the revenue cycle as needed.
