Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and dependable Dump Truck Driver to join our dynamic transportation team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating dump trucks to transport materials such as gravel, dirt, debris, or other bulk loads to various job sites and disposal locations. Your expertise in truck driving, route management, and load handling will ensure efficient delivery and compliance with safety standards. Duties
- Safely operate dump trucks and other heavy-duty vehicles such as roll-off trucks and flatbeds to transport materials across designated routes.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using appropriate equipment like forklifts or manual methods, ensuring secure cargo handling.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and route logs to ensure smooth operations and compliance with company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking fluid levels, brakes, tires, lights, and safety equipment to guarantee vehicle readiness.
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during route driving and delivery processes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and site personnel to coordinate deliveries and resolve any logistical issues promptly.
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of trailers such as refrigerated trailers or tanker units when required for specific loads.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience operating dump trucks, tractor-trailers, or similar heavy-duty vehicles in a commercial setting.
- Proficiency in manual transmission driving; experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or roll-off trucks is a plus.
- Knowledge of load securing techniques and safety procedures for freight transportation.
- Ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks.
- Strong route planning skills with the ability to adapt to changing schedules or traffic conditions.
- Physical ability to load/unload freight manually or with equipment like forklifts; comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
