Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machinist 3 to join our world-class manufacturing team at our state-of-the-art aerospace facility. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating complex machining equipment, including 5-axis machines, gantry systems, and horizontal mills. This role is critical in producing high-precision components for cutting-edge aerospace applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate advanced CNC machinery, including 5-axis machines, gantry systems, and horizontal mills, to manufacture complex aerospace components with extreme precision
- Interpret and follow complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Set up machines for various operations, including selecting appropriate tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices
- Program, edit, and optimize CNC machine operations using CAM software and manual programming techniques
- Perform in-process quality checks and measurements using precision measuring instruments
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to maintain production efficiency and quality standards
- Collaborate with engineers, quality control personnel, and other machinists to improve manufacturing processes and implement new technologies
- Maintain detailed records of machining operations, including production data, quality reports, and maintenance logs
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Mentor and train junior machinists, sharing knowledge and best practices
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certification or associate's degree in machining or related field preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC machinist in aerospace or related high-precision manufacturing industry
- Proven expertise in operating 5-axis CNC machines, gantry systems, and horizontal mills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Experience with high-performance materials such as titanium, Inconel, and other aerospace alloys
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required
Technical Skills
- 5-Axis Machining: Expert-level proficiency in programming, setting up, and operating 5-axis CNC machines for complex aerospace components
- Gantry Systems: Extensive experience with large-scale gantry machining systems for oversized aerospace parts
- Horizontal Mills: Advanced skills in horizontal machining center operations for precision milling of aerospace components
