CNC Machinist - 2nd/3rd Shift!!

Position Overview

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and machining complex precision components using advanced multi-axis CNC equipment. This role supports the production of high-precision parts used in aerospace, defense, and space applications, requiring a strong understanding of machining processes, tight tolerances, and complex geometries.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with 3, 4, and 5-axis CNC machines, and is capable of working with a variety of materials while maintaining strict quality and performance standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate 5-axis CNC mills and machining centers to produce precision components.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accurate machining.
• Perform complex machining operations on ferrous and non-ferrous materials including aluminum, stainless steel, and specialty alloys.
• Execute multi-operation machining processes, including roughing, finishing, and tight-tolerance work.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust offsets, feeds, and speeds as needed to maintain quality.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Ensure parts meet strict quality and tolerance requirements for aerospace applications.
• Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality teams to optimize machining processes.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas while following all safety protocols.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
• Support production schedules and meet deadlines for high-priority projects.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience operating CNC machining equipment, with strong experience in 5-axis machining.
• Experience working in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of multi-axis machining processes and toolpath strategies.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and GD&T.
• Experience machining large and complex components using multi-axis equipment.
• Strong knowledge of cutting tools, materials, and machining techniques.
• Ability to work independently and make adjustments to improve part quality and efficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CAM software and editing programs at the machine.
• Familiarity with large-scale machining, including horizontal mills or boring mills.
• Experience working with tight-tolerance aerospace components.
• Knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality standards.
• Ability to operate cranes or material handling equipment.
