Job Description:

The Instrumentation and Controls Lead II is a 4-month assignment supporting a frac project with commissioning activities, document review, and control logic oversight. This role defines the scope of all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities, assigns workloads, reviews and implements standards/procedures including man hour estimating, cost estimating, budgeting, and progress reporting for Instrumentation scope for all phases of the project. The position supports development and execution of centralized engineering services for existing upstream production operating units and new upstream capital projects to maintain safety availability and reliability of the instrument and control systems while optimizing cost. Schedule is 7/7 or 14/14, working days until fracking starts, then on-call 24/7 during hitch.

Responsibilities:

• Review documents and control logic for frac project commissioning
• Facilitate project equipment management; read and troubleshoot PLCs (Allen Bradley, ladder logic, Productivity)
• Provide support for night coverage (on-call)
• Define scope of all pre-commissioning and commissioning activities and assign workloads
• Review and implement standards/procedures including man hour estimating, cost estimating, budgeting, and progress reporting for Instrumentation scope
• Liaise with customers, vendors, engineers, and other disciplines as required
• Participate in HAZOP/LOPA reviews and in other technical, constructability, and quality reviews
• Assist in the Design, Review, and Approval of Instrumentation related engineering deliverables, including instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&ID's, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives and selection of instruments, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves), document control logs, bill of materials, and instrument change approvals
• Support project Acceptance Testing (AT) including: reviewing procedures, assigning resources, periodically attending AT, and adjust commissioning scope to integrate AT successes and deficiencies
• Develop, track, and adjust commissioning execution schedule
• Deliver ongoing support for installed systems, ensuring effective maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational reliability

Skills and Qualifications:

Required Experience:

• 5 years of experience
• Previous experience in a closely related position and/or supervisory experience in related field

Education:

• Bachelor's/MS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering specialty, or equivalent professional experience

Required Skills and Knowledge:

• Extensive knowledge of discipline design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria
• Able to review, evaluate, and update cause and effect, P&IDs, logic and architecture diagrams and control narratives
• Experience in selection, application, and ISA data sheet specification of hardware including pressure/temperature/level instruments, control valves, shutdown valves, and fire/gas detection
• Strong PLC ladder logic experience with the ability to effectively analyze, interpret, and troubleshoot program logic (no need to be a programmer)
• Proficient in data collection and analysis with common database and software data analysis tools such as SAP, Analytics for Excel and Tableau
• Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs
• Read, write, and speak fluent English, especially as it applies to technical and business communications

Role Details:

Location: Midland, Texas

Schedule: 7/7 or 14/14

Pay: $60.55/Hr

Per diem – 125/day for non-local

Truck Allowance – 150/day or Agency truck for W2
