Job Description:
The Power Automate Specialist will lead automation initiatives within the Finance & Accounting function, serving as both a technical expert and strategic advisor. This role focuses on designing and implementing complex workflow solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, with particular emphasis on enterprise-scale automation and ERP system integration. The specialist will guide the organization from current-state solutions to future-state architecture aligned with Power Platform best practices.
This is a 12-month assignment in a highly collaborative environment. The position operates on a hybrid schedule with one week in office and one week remote. Candidates must be onshore U.S. resources with preference for candidates based in Houston, TX, and secondary preference for Denver, CO. This is a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) position.
Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end automation initiatives using Microsoft Power Automate, from business intake and discovery through design, build, and deployment
- Design and develop complex workflows leveraging Power Automate and Power Apps, with integration into existing Power Platform solutions
- Act as an advisor and subject-matter expert, guiding the organization from current-state solution set to future-state architecture aligned with Power Platform best practices
- Provide strategic input on best practices, lessons learned, and platform capabilities, helping the business better understand the full potential of Power Platform tools
- Support reporting and insights through integration with Power BI dashboards (collaborating with existing Power BI resources)
- Build or extend workflows that integrate with large ERP systems, particularly SAP (e.g., SAP S/4HANA), to enable enterprise-scale automation
- Assess current-state solutions and recommend future-state architecture following Microsoft best practices
- Translate business requests into technical designs and explain complex automation logic to non-technical users
- Challenge assumptions and propose better technical approaches as a trusted advisor
- Work collaboratively with business users, technical peers, and leadership in a hybrid environment
Skills and Qualifications:
Core Technical Skills (Essential):
Power Automate – Advanced/Expert Level (Critical)
- Deep hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining complex Power Automate workflows, not just simple approvals or notifications
- Ability to architect end-to-end automation solutions, including intake, orchestration, error handling, monitoring, and optimization
- Strong understanding of best practices, including performance considerations, scalability, governance, and reusability of flows
- Experience integrating Power Automate with enterprise systems rather than only Microsoft 365 tools
Power Apps – Strong Working Knowledge
- Experience building and supporting Power Apps solutions that work in tandem with Power Automate workflows
- Understanding how Power Apps fit into broader Power Platform architecture
- Ability to design applications that align with business processes and are consumable by non-technical users
Power Platform Architecture & Mechanics
- Strong architectural understanding of the entire Power Platform ecosystem, including how Power Automate, Power Apps, and Power BI interoperate
- Ability to assess current-state solutions and recommend future-state architecture following Microsoft best practices
- Experience working within an enterprise governance model, including environment strategy and controlled deployment approaches
Integration Skills (Highly Preferred):
SAP/ERP Integration
- Experience integrating Power Automate workflows with SAP systems, particularly SAP S/4HANA, is strongly preferred
- Understanding of how enterprise systems expose data, how workflows interact with ERP architecture, and integration concepts, data flows, and error handling
- Experience with other large ERP or enterprise systems may be considered if the underlying integration principles are strong
Enterprise Integration Concepts
- Understanding system-to-system integration patterns
- Ability to design workflows that handle data transformation, system constraints, and security and access considerations
Reporting & Analytics Skills (Supporting Capability):
Power BI – Working Knowledge
- Familiarity with Power BI dashboards that consume data generated from Power Automate workflows

Role Details:
