Job Description

The Gas Accountant / Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for supporting gas accounting activities while also assisting with accounts receivable functions. This hybrid role combines production and revenue accounting responsibilities with customer invoicing, payment tracking, and reconciliation support.

The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in oil and gas accounting operations, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across accounting, operations, marketing, and commercial teams.

This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to be local to the Fort Worth area.

Responsibilities

Gas Accounting

• Process and reconcile gas production and volume data.
• Validate production allocations, imbalance statements, and pipeline information.
• Prepare and maintain gas balancing and settlement records.
• Assist with monthly close activities related to gas accounting.
• Analyze discrepancies in production, transportation, and sales data and resolve issues with internal and external parties.
• Maintain accurate records of gas volumes, contracts, and pricing information.
• Support audits and provide documentation as required.
  
  

Accounts Receivable

• Generate and distribute customer invoices.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and assist with collections activities.
• Apply customer payments and reconcile account balances.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and payment issues.
• Maintain customer account records and supporting documentation.
• Assist with cash application and reporting activities.
  
  

General Responsibilities

• Collaborate with operations, marketing, land, and accounting teams to ensure accurate reporting.
• Maintain compliance with internal accounting controls and company procedures.
• Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and account reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies.
• Support additional accounting and administrative functions as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
• Experience in oil and gas accounting, gas accounting, production accounting, or accounts receivable preferred.
• Understanding of gas volume allocations, settlements, and reconciliation processes preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems, accounting software, or production accounting systems preferred.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
• Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment.
• Must be local to the Fort Worth area for hybrid work schedule requirements.
