Looking for a stable, high-paying forklift operator role with long-term potential? Join our team in Mentor as a Material Handler / Forklift Operator. Offering competitive $21.00/hour pay, consistent day-shift hours, and the opportunity for permanent hire, this position is ideal for an experienced equipment operator looking to build a long-term career with an industry-leading electrical distributor.
Duration: 3-month contract (Potential temp to hire)
Start Date: TBD
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Possible overtime; Saturday OT is 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
What you will do
- Operate material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, cherry pickers, reach trucks, walking riders, and hand trucks (order picker/cherry picker work includes working elevated up to 24 ft. in the air).
- Load, unload, and transfer materials safely across the work site to fill orders and process incoming/outgoing inventory.
- Accurately pack and ship orders by reading work orders, verifying material tickets, and securing items for safe transportation.
- Maintain warehouse organization by keeping work zones clean, organized, and compliant with facility safety standards.
What we’re looking for
- Must be 18 years old, possess sound basic math abilities, and have strong written/verbal communication skills to read labels, order tickets, and documentation.
- Valid Forklift Certification required. Prior experience operating Reach Trucks or Order Pickers is helpful, along with comfort operating at heights up to 24 feet.
- Ability to frequently lift, push, carry, and slide packages weighing up to 75 lbs, with the stamina to stand and move throughout the warehouse in varying temperatures.
- Must supply your own steel-toe safety boots.
Work Environment: You will work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, organized warehouse environment. The role involves continuous equipment operation, physical order picking, and exposure to seasonal temperature changes on the warehouse floor.
Employment Note: This is a temporary/contract engagement focused on immediate operational support; standard corporate health benefits and paid time off are not provided during the initial contract duration.
