Overview
We are seeking a motived and experienced property and casualty insurance agent who is commercial focused to join our team. As a commercial focused agent, you will be responsibility for analyzing business clients, vendor and or third party insurance needs while providing the upmost excellence customer service. With over 5 fast growing locations in the United States, we want to bring on new staff locally to contribute to our positive and energetic environment, that fosters both growth in the community and creativity in the agency. This role will be flexible in both sales and servicing using their sold understanding of team building, negotiation and problem solving strategies. To be successful in this role you must have previous experience with writing with independent direct carriers and wholesale carriers for all small-medium business industries. While having a solid understanding of commercial products, contract terms, regulation(s), insurance trends as well as business industry news.
Duties
- Engage with prospective clients through outside sales efforts, including community outreach, networking events, and telemarketing campaigns to generate new business opportunities
- Conduct thorough analysis of client needs to recommend appropriate commercial insurance policies that align with their risk profiles
- Negotiate policy terms and premiums with clients to ensure mutually beneficial agreements while maintaining profitability for the company
- Manage sales administration tasks such as processing applications, updating client records, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with industry standards like HIPAA where applicable
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries promptly, explaining policy details clearly, and assisting with benefits administration when needed
- Collaborate with marketing teams to develop strategies that promote insurance products effectively across various channels
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to foster long-term relationships and identify opportunities for upselling or policy adjustments
Skills
- Proven experience in outside sales, retail sales, or telemarketing within the insurance or related industries
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with excellent communication abilities to clearly convey complex policy information
- Multilingual or bilingual proficiency to serve diverse customer bases effectively
- Solid analysis skills for assessing client needs and recommending suitable coverage options
- Expertise in sales administration processes, including CRM management and documentation accuracy
- Knowledge of marketing principles to promote products compellingly and expand market reach
- Customer service orientation with a focus on building trust and delivering personalized solutions
Requirements
-Active Property and Casualty License (CLCS, CPCU, CRM or PCIA designation preferred)
- Life and Health License *optional
- Bi or Trilingual *optional
- Active written authority in both MD, VA (PA & D.C., NY, NJ are optional)
- Strong communication and organizational skills: verbally and written, conflict resolution and negotiation skills, and the ability to analyze needs quickly, and effectively provide solutions while adhering to state and federal compliance
- (5yr ) Experience writing independently in both direct private and wholesale commercial applications, quotes and policies. Understanding workers compensation audits, as well as servicing commercial clients
- Ability to analyze clients business needs, and multi-tiered vendor(s), government contracts, and third party business insurance clauses. Complete CG and waiver of subrogation endorsements directly and promptly complete certificates of insurance request (CRM and or Insurance Management System)
- Experience with small-medium businesses of all industries, and Commercial Auto, Inland Marine Cargo (FMCSA -BMC-84,85,34,91,91x), USDOT federal and state fillings compliance
- Proven strategy of active nurturing professional relationship(s) and network(s), with referral sources to supplement agency provided leads
- (5yr) Insurance carrier knowledge and strong product knowledge (GL, WC, BLC, PL, CYBER, CPP, BOP, BOND, etc.)
-Must be able to work onsite: Virginia office(s), a minimum of 5 days a month
Compliance and Licensing
-Not have an active non-compete within the past (2 -5 years based off any miles radius in VA, D.C., PA, or MD)
-No active, pending claims or previous claims of character, negligence, misrepresentation or breech of fiduciary duty with any carriers, state or the insurance commissioner (NAIC)
