Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including mental status examinations and risk assessments, to establish accurate diagnoses.
- Prescribe and manage medications in accordance with state regulations and collaborative practice agreements, ensuring optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Develop individualized treatment plans incorporating psychotherapy, medication management, and other evidence-based interventions.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for documentation, order entry, and care planning.
- Provide telehealth services to expand access to mental health care for diverse populations.
- Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, and lifestyle modifications.
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner in psychiatric or behavioral health settings with a strong understanding of psychiatry principles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient management.
- Experience prescribing psychotropic medications while adhering to DEA regulations and state laws governing advanced practice providers.
- Knowledge of clinical research methodologies related to mental health treatments is a plus.
- Prior experience managing patients with complex psychiatric conditions across inpatient, outpatient, or telehealth environments is preferred.
- Familiarity with behavioral health assessments, crisis intervention, and triage procedures enhances patient safety and care quality.
- Additional skills in working with special populations such as geriatrics, children, or individuals with developmental disabilities are highly valued.
