J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers is seeking an Engineering Technician responsible for supporting the manufacturing and technical integration of installed truck equipment on a commercial truck chassis. The ideal candidate should have experience with dump body and trailer installation and operation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other job-related duties may be assigned in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Inspects truck chassis upon arrival for equipment and fit-up compatibility.
Creates production and layout drawings, machining programs, and models for work orders using a variety of programs including AutoCAD, Inventor, and ProNest.
Performs diagnostics on work trucks and customizes functions by interfacing with the on-board OEM software.
Makes technical equipment selections and assists with hydraulic and electrical system operation on dump trucks and trailers.
Maintains accuracy and tracking of inventory parts and Bills of Materials in an ERP system.
Maintains accuracy and tracking of engineering and quality documentation including but not limited to drawings, files, technical procedures, and change orders.
Education and / or Experience :
Technical degree from a two-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communicates well, works in a team environment, and manages multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
Use of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems and other technologies.
Detail-oriented and organized.
Reads and interprets work orders, Bill of Materials (BOMs), blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
Creates drawings, models, and programs in a variety of engineering software programs.
Has experience with work truck hydraulic power systems and control systems.
Has experience with or aptitude to learn vehicle diagnostics and programming.
Observe and follow all the provisions of the ISO 9001 QMS.
Observe and follow all safety rules, always including the use of PPE.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, volume, and geometry. Demonstrates ability to apply these concepts in manufacturing.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should know vehicle programming; the Internet; Inventory software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software; Word Processing software; Company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
