Event Operations Supervisor

Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter’s 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel’s 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building’s legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan – a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Event & Banquet Operations Oversee the setup, execution, and breakdown of banquet functions, meetings, weddings, and special events. Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and ensure all event details are executed accurately. Conduct pre-shift meetings with banquet staff to communicate event timelines, service expectations, VIP details, and operational needs. Ensure banquet rooms and event spaces are set according to hotel standards and client specifications. Monitor service throughout events to ensure high-quality guest experience and timely execution. Serve as the main point of contact for banquet staff during events and communicate effectively with the kitchen, culinary, stewarding, audio visual, and hotel leadership teams. Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, concerns, and service recovery opportunities. Team Leadership & Supervision Supervise banquet servers, bartenders, housepersons, and support staff during events. Assist with training, coaching, and development of banquet team members. Support scheduling, staffing, and labor management to ensure operational efficiency. Maintain a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment. Ensure team members comply with hotel policies, grooming standards, attendance expectations, and safety procedures. Qualifications Minimum 1–2 years of banquet, restaurant, or hotel event operations experience required. Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong understanding of banquet service standards and event execution. Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
