Technician Position: Industrial Electrical/Controls Technician

Pay Range: $25-$50 per hour

Primary Territory: Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia (field based, jobsite varies)
Additional Travel Possible: Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma (projects or training as needed)
Rig AC and Electric is hiring an early career technician with a solid electrical foundation who wants to grow into controls, automation, and robotics. This role is for someone who can work safely around electrical systems, troubleshoot with discipline, and handle field work, then advance into more complex control and automation systems over time.
We provide tools, direction, and access to training pathways. Advancement here requires initiative, strong work habits, and a commitment to continuous learning.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems in industrial field environments
- Use test equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, ammeters, and process meters
- Rebuild plugs and connectors, perform terminations, pull and land conductors, verify safe operation
- Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
- Apply electrical fundamentals such as ampacity, wire sizing, overcurrent protection, grounding, and bonding
- Use references such as an Ugly’s manual (or learn quickly if new to it)
- Assist with installing, calibrating, and maintaining control systems and electronic components
- Document work with photos and clear job notes (what you found, what you fixed, what changed)
- Drive a company vehicle safely to and from job sites and operate professionally on customer sites
- Follow written and verbal instructions while maintaining efficiency and precision under pressure
- Maintain strict safety compliance, including lockout and tagout, PPE use, and jobsite rules
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of electrical experience (industrial preferred, strong commercial considered)
- Working knowledge of electrical theory and safe troubleshooting practices
- Ability to read basic schematics and diagrams
- Strong problem solving ability and the independence to work without constant supervision
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

Preferred, Not Required
- Exposure to controls wiring, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, sensors, networking, or automation panels
- Basic programming familiarity such as C , Python, Codesys, or similar
- Strong documentation habits
Schedule, On Call, and Travel
This is field service. Jobs do not always land Monday through Friday, 9 to 5.
- Expect an on call rotation that may include nights and weekends as assigned
- Travel within Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia is routine
- Additional travel may occur for projects or training
Safety and PPE Requirements
Industrial job sites require strict safety compliance. PPE may include:
- Steel toe boots, FR clothing as required, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection
- Must follow lockout and tagout and all customer safety procedures
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $25 to $50 per hour (based on experience and demonstrated capability)
- Company vehicle with fuel card
