GROCERY MANAGER
REPORTS TO: Store Operator
JOB FUNCTION: Effectively train and supervise the activities of all grocery department personnel to achieve the sales and profit goals established for the Grocery Department.
Possibility to make an additional $3 per hour for working PIC (Person In Charge) Shifts
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Observe all store rules and company policies.
2. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times and observe company dress regulations.
3. Greet all customers and provide them with prompt and courteous service.
4. Observe shift-operating hours at all times as scheduled by management.
5. Monitor the receiving and unloading of merchandise to ensure that all department receivings accurately reflect the items and counts listed on the vendor invoices; ensure accurate billing and pricing; routinely check products to confirm quality, count, and condition.
6. Control ordering procedures to ensure that the department complies with company guidelines for inventory maintenance to minimize out-of-stocks and to maximize sales and turnover.
7. Handle damaged or distressed merchandise according to company policy.
8. Ensure that all department employees comply with safety policies and procedures.
9. Responsible for maintaining, safeguarding, and forwarding all department-related reports and orders to the corporate office and to store management on schedule.
10. Responsible for ensuring that all merchandise is correctly priced and merchandised including all ad and promotional merchandise.
11. Perform sales forecasts weekly and calculate number of man-hours required to properly staff work shifts based on projected sales volume and/or workloads.
12. Maintain and oversee housekeeping and sanitation program for department and sales floor.
13. Supervise and train department personnel to perform assignments according to job requirements while maintaining effective employee relations.
14. Conduct job performance appraisals and evaluations of department personnel.
15. Must possess the math skills necessary to verify vendor invoice charges, discounts, and credits; calculate gross margins and ad losses; make financial projections and forecasts; analyze reports, and estimate labor requirements.
16. Able to hear, speak, read, and write.
17. Able to frequently exert or lift up to 70 pounds.
18. Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management.
