Radiation Oncology Physician (On-Site)
Department: Radiation Oncology
Employment Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Location: Baltimore VA Medical Center, 10 N. Greene Street, Baltimore, MD 21201
Contract: Federal Government Contract – U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Schedule:
Clinic Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (on-site at Baltimore VA Medical Center)
Physicians are expected to provide patient consultations, radiation treatments, and related clinical services during regular business hours
Work schedules may vary based on patient care needs.
On-Call Coverage Required: Evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physicians must participate in the on-call rotation, including at least 8 weekday nights per month and 1 weekend per month, with availability for phone consultations and emergency patient care
When urgent radiation oncology treatment is required, physicians must be able to evaluate patients within 60 minutes of being paged

About the Opportunity
RieLes Group is seeking an experienced Board-Certified Radiation Oncology Physician to provide on-site clinical services at the Baltimore VA Medical Center. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs by delivering comprehensive radiation oncology care to our nation's Veterans while maintaining compliance with VA directives, American College of Radiology (ACR), American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and National Radiation Oncology Program (NROP) standards

Position Summary
The Radiation Oncology Physician will provide comprehensive radiation oncology services, including patient consultations, treatment planning, image-guided radiation therapy, treatment supervision, and follow-up care. The physician will collaborate with an interdisciplinary oncology team while ensuring compliance with VA clinical practice guidelines and national accreditation standards.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive radiation oncology consultations and evaluations
  • Develop individualized radiation treatment plans
  • Conduct CT simulations and treatment planning
  • Supervise radiation therapy delivery
  • Provide ongoing follow-up care for oncology patients
  • Utilize advanced radiation treatment modalities including:
  • IMRT
  • VMAT
  • SBRT
  • SRS
  • SRT
  • 2D/3D Conformal Radiation Therapy
  • Review diagnostic imaging and treatment verification.
  • Utilize Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT), including Cone Beam CT
  • Work within VA Electronic Health Record (CPRS/EHR) systems
  • Collaborate with radiation therapists, medical physicists, dosimetrists, and oncology staff
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation
  • Adhere to VA, ACR, ASTRO, AAPM, and Nuclear Regulatory Commission standards
  • Participate in credentialing, privileging, and quality assurance activities

Minimum Qualifications:
Education
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
  • Licensure
  • Active, unrestricted physician license in any U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia
  • Board Certification
  • American Board of Radiology (ABR) – Radiation Oncology (Required)
  • Must maintain board certification throughout the contract period
  • U.S. Citizen

Experience
  • Candidates must possess:
  • Minimum 5 years of post-residency Radiation Oncology experience
  • Minimum 3 years of continuous clinical experience within the last 5 years

Experience must include:
  • Radiation oncology consultations
  • CT simulation
  • Treatment planning
  • Patient follow-up
  • Varian Linear Accelerators (Edge or equivalent)
  • Image Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT)
  • Cone Beam CT
  • Eclipse Treatment Planning System
  • ARIA Record & Verify System
  • IMRT
  • VMAT
  • SBRT
  • SRS
  • SRT
  • Siemens SOMATOM go.Open Pro CT Simulator (or equivalent)

Preferred:
  • Experience using VA CPRS Electronic Medical Record
Technical Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with:
  • Eclipse Treatment Planning System
  • ARIA Oncology Information System
  • Varian Linear Accelerators
  • Siemens CT Simulator
  • VA CPRS (preferred)
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Required Certifications
  • Active ABR Certification
  • Current unrestricted medical license
  • Current DEA (if applicable)
  • BLS (Required)
  • ACLS (Required)
  • Completion of all required VA mandatory training
  • Continuing Medical Education (CME) maintained in accordance with specialty requirements
  • Credentialing Requirements
