Center Mental Health Counselor – USDA Job Corps Clinical Support Services
Position: Center Mental Health Counselor (CMHC)
Client: U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service – Job Corps Program
Position Type: Full-Time Contract
Hours: 2,080 hours annually (40 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, typically 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Alternative schedules including evenings or weekends may be approved based on operational needs. Federal holidays observed

Multiple USDA Forest Service Job Corps Centers throughout the United States
Position Summary
The Center Mental Health Counselor provides mental health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, case management, and wellness education for Job Corps students between the ages of 16 and 24. The CMHC works collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare staff to promote student success, retention, and emotional well-being while meeting Department of Labor and Job Corps standards

Position Summary
The Center Mental Health Counselor provides mental health assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, case management, and wellness education for Job Corps students between the ages of 16 and 24. The CMHC works collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare staff to promote student success, retention, and emotional well-being while meeting Department of Labor and Job Corps standards
Responsibilities:
- Conduct applicant and student mental health assessments
- Develop treatment and case management plans
- Provide brief therapy, crisis intervention, and referrals for long-term care
- Monitor students with chronic mental health conditions
- Participate in Disability Accommodation Committee meetings
- Coordinate care with physicians, nurses, and substance abuse counselors
- Conduct mental health orientation presentations for new students
- Lead annual mental health awareness activities
- Document all services in Student Health Records
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality
- Participate in DOL trainings, assessments, webinars, and quality improvement initiatives
Minimum Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted independent mental health license in the state where services are provided
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience providing assessment and treatment services to adolescents or young adults
- Professional liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence/$3 million aggregate
- Ability to pass a background investigation and drug screening
